LOOKING FOR INFO ON A RARE LIONEL ITEM

Good morning everyone, I need some help with this Lionel construction set that my dad owns. It say's it's from 1947 and the set number on the box is 222. I did some research on the internet and it's saying that this is a very rare set. I also looked up pricing on it via live auctions and on ebay, the set seems to be worth anywhere from 125.00 to 250.00. But I can be totally wrong. The set seems to have every part, and the box has a lot of wear on it, but the instruction manual is in great condition and so are all the parts. If anyone one can help us out we would appreciate it. I also took some photo's so you can get a look at everything.

We had a small Gilbert Erector Set back then and was not aware of the Lionel sets. Are there any appreciable differences between the two?

Was always glad that Santa brought the two rail trains too!

Lionel made a couple Construction sets. I think the one I bought a few years ago is a 454 set. Large wooden box with 1 or 2 drawers. I think I paid $50, it was missing pieces & the motor. EB** has sets & motors. Your set looks complete & looks like a nice set.

Lionel construction sets are a real niche item, so rare or not, they do not command big money when compared to trains.

Your Dad's set looks to be in very nice shape. I'd suggest holding onto it. I'd guess it is worth more to your family than it would be to someone else.
