Menards does it again

Not to be a scrooge but. The UH 60 Black Hawk doesn't have counter rotating blades.

 

 

I suspect the model sourced by Menard's is an non-powered/no electronics inexpensive RC model.

It just doesn't matter.   People buying this (including me) aren't going for realism.

I love it.  Can you tell us if the blades are likely to move during travel around the layout (and therefore take out some scenery) or are they pretty secure?  Thanks,  BigRail

they are very secure and do move out to make a cross, I'll take more pics. later

Yep, one super nice chopper, certainly would look great flying over the layout.

How close to scale is the chopper. I love the concept.

 

I saw the non-military version of the helicopter flat.  The chopper does look a little big, but don't really care.  They were sold out of the military version.  Also, the item is not available on Menard's website.  So, if Mark is monitoring this... Mark, Do you know if they will have more available on the Menard's website?  I would like to get this to have the complete military train series so far.

Obligatory comment about the third rail going down the middle.

The rotor blades aren't "counter-rotating", they're made that way on the model so they can "fold away" for transport.  Otherwise that UH60 would have a hard time going through tunnels...

You guys crack me up.  I honestly don't know why some of you aren't in 2-rail or HO...

Its on a 50ft flat.  No the Black hawk is not scale.

It would never be transported that way. The rotors would have been removed. Like I said earlier. I like the 50ft flats. Some of the secondary loads leave some to be desired. Like I posted before. A scale (1:48) would be to long(64FT) and wide (14ft.if they don't remove the stabilizer). 

 

 

 

I have a 1:48 SH-60 from this company. Sikorsky Aircraft is located in my home town.

My point was that it's a toy-train item, and the fold-away rotors are a concession to that.

I don't think the rotors would be removed. That would add a ton of unnecessary work. They are designed to fold with all four rotors into the aft position. I would think if you were the kind of person that needed something that accurate, the mod would not be very hard to do. I love what Menards is doing to aide our hobby!

There are a number of 1/48 scale _H-60 kits on the market for those that want a realistic load, and the rotors can be built folded.

 

Same with armor and so forth.
