Solomon's Gap on the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern was quiet on April 4, 2012 when this photo was taken.  This is in the town of Mountaintop, PA.

However, I did catch this switcher and cars of plastic pellets a few miles east in the Penobscot yard. The unit was idling while the crew took lunch.

No 1548, which is a former Reading unit, will be one of the SWs that will haul the "hopper jet" excursion on May 5th.  This will be a mixed freight of coal hoppers, caboose and passenger cars co-sponsored but the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley chapter, NRHS and the Reading & Northern RR.  Details available at www.laurellines.org

Time for me to pass the thread on to other photographers.  Show us what part of the Real World was captured by your camera.  Have a great week.

While this is going on, work on the shuttle is stopped as Q 316, the daily eastbound

manifest, has stopped to pickup cars on a spur used for eastbound storage. There were

three locomotives in the engine consist, and I caught the third engine as the locmotives backed into the spur to collect the cars. It was an EMD SW15AC, and evidently was

painted and had heavy repairs done at Huntington, and as this manifest terminates at

Cumberland, there is probably some rewiring or other work stil to be completed on the
