I recently installed an Electric Railroad Co milk car kit into my post war operating milk car, number 3472. It's a great option.

This was an easy install. Love it and surprised that I have not heard more about it.  I now can dump my milk cans anywhere I want with out having to install a remote control track, and precisely place the car on the remote track.

I wonder, though, if anyone has ever removed the magnets on the milk cans and replaced them with newer earth type magnets so that they stand up on the platform rather then some falling over. I tried to pull on the magnet but no luck. Thinking of maybe drilling the magnet out, but don't know what that will do.

Has anyone ever removed the magnets from the milk cans?

Thanks,

RAY

How is the voltage set with your Electric Railroad Co. milk car kit?

When using a traditional control track, I can usually adjust the supply voltage so the cans are ejected without any of them falling over. If such an adjustment was not possible, I would suspect that the magnets in the cans are weak, and try other cans.

If that did not resolve the issue, I would suspect a dirty mechanism that is requiring higher voltage to get things moving.

Jim, I think you are right, but was hoping someone had an idea.

C W, the Electric Railroad mod is for use with TMCC and will not work in conventional application to the best of my knowledge. The instructions from ERR, which are easy to follow, explains how to set the voltage of the output, even though the track power is at 18 or 20 volts.

If you have TMCC (or Legacy), this is a great application as it gives you a lot of flexibility and you can have several milk platforms on the layout without having the cost of a remote track or setting a position on the layout for the track.

One can even dump the cans on the go, but chances are they wont stand upright. Will have to try it some day.
