"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Ya's cain't force people's to participate...

Seriously, I suspect most folks here have HO, N, G, or Z as side interests from their O gauge hobby.  I'm pretty sure there are other venues where participation of modelers in these scales is hot 'n heavy.

We also have a fairly low participation rate on the S scale forum here.  But, I'm glad the folks over at OGR have allowed us forum space.

Very much enjoy seeing the other scales represented as I don't frequent any other train forums at all due to being busy. Here is my 'pearl of great price' in this 1:29 scale highly detailed #5344 50 pound beauty along with the Santa Fe PA's. (B unit still in box) I have a smattering of HO equipment as well and cherish them all

This fantastic HO layout is in a private home in Hendersonville NC and is one of the finest I've seen

Just wondering why we do not have more participation on this forum?

no big surprise , since this is a O gauge forum, owned by folks that sell an O gauge magazine....it was a mistake, imo ,to include honzg on here to start with.......

Maybe adding Real Trains was a mistake also, after all they aren't O scale/gauge.

There was apparently enough interests in scales not O to give them a slice of the forum.

Nobody is forced to view HONGZ posts.  Personally, I like to keep tabs on goings on in multiple scales.  I usually wind up learning something along the line.   I also don't like to wear blinders...

Folks

I have a considerable interest in N, but rarely think about discussing it here on the “OGR”.  There isn’t really a reason for a hard core “other scale” person to seek this out as a primary place to post. I think this forum is limited to O folks that want to talk about other scales.

I chuckled at the response about not adding a “real trains” forum, because it’s not O... I haven’t met a model railroad person that says “yuck! Real trains”. I have had folks offer to run over my n scale stuff, with O

Now that made me chuckle.  I actually DO know a guy who has no interest in real trains.  He even says so.  But he's big time into model trains, mainly HO scale.  And modern era to boot.  Go figure.

I was surprised then they added other scales to the OGR Forum.  I posted here regularly when I was an "o gauger"  Alas, when we sold our house and moved to a condo I had to switch to HO.  I visit the HONZ forum occasionally when I remember it is there.  The detail on the HO is really good.

I love HO...always have.  I read posts in here, but haven't posted I don't think.  I have thought of having a switching layout in HO, but lately I have been reading more on O scale 2 rail as I am switching over from 3 rail...but I will have an HO layout again one day...so much better than it was when I was doing it before..I got out as DCC was coming in.  Now ironically I am learning about DCC.

I suppose it makes sense. My interest in guns ends at the pool side squirt gun! I should have guessed this person existed.

I suspect the reason we don't see more posters here is it's primarily a 2 and 3 rail O scale/gauge forum. I post HO topics here occasionally but I suppose like many others typically post on other more specific HO forums. HO scale is awesome in many regards but my favorite hands down is O scale/Proto48, the level of realism and detail fidelity that can be achieved in it is incredible.

I've never posted here before now. I'm thinking about switching scales. Giving a hard look at H O.

The main reason is that H O has a standardized control system. That and the variety of locomotives and rolling stock that is available.

I've been in HO for most of my 60 years of model railroading.

I have experimented in several scales, and I always come back to HO for some of the reasons you mention above.

IF you're coming from O gauge (3-rail in particular) and if you can adjust to the small size (compared to O 3-rail) that requires more dexterity, then you will LOVE the pricing, variety, DCC systems/etc. The modeling world will your oyster!

Feel free to stop by my thread here at the HONGZ forum (link below). You may see/read something that helps you get acquainted with what HO can do/etc. Plus, I can help with some of the specific questions you may have.

Good luck with your decision!

That's true. but what I'm talking about are people outside of this Fourm that don't know that OGR exists let alone The HONGZ forum.

I discovered OGR by accident when looking for something train related.

I am pretty sure I found OGR the same way....searching for something O scale on google...joined, read as much as possible, asked stupid questions, then meandered to the other sections...and the rest is history. (still asking stupid questions though)
