Two of my 5 MTH engines can not be added to my list of engines on my controller.  I have no problem running my three other MTH engines (two of which are proto sound 3, and the other proto 2).  The two engines that can not be added are proto sound 2.  I have not run these  two engines in the past 6 months; but had no problem adding them to the system in the past and running them.

What could be the problem?

dead battery?

already in the system?

Yeah, you mentioned you have used them before, maybe they are on your "INACTIVE" Roster?

If not, try cleaning the pickup rollers and track as well as removing all other engines. I have found it a great habit to add trains to DCS on my test track and then moving it onto my layout, that way I can eliminate possible interference from other devices on my layout. Not saying interference is your issue but eliminating possibilities for failure helps find the issue.

Other than that, I would also check that the battery is charged but if I recall correctly, the battery being dead is more of an issue of possibly damaging the software in the engine vs not adding to DCS properly, in any case, its not a bad idea to check.

Good Luck!

I took your advice and made a test track.  This allowed me to add both my MTH engines on to my controller; but when I placed engines on my regular track,  I could not get them on the active engine list.

I will try changing the batteries of these engines.

I just posted about the exact same problem a few days ago.  Installation of a BCR2 cured the problem.
