MTH Railking Mp15 switcher derails on Gargraves 0-42 switch | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi guys,

I have MTH Railking UP MP15 switcher that derails on a Gargraves 042 switch when entering from the curved side of the switch, but passes through with no problem on the straight section.

I've checked the switch for any high spots and for being level and can't find any problems.

This engine works on all of my other 042 switches without a problem.

Of course its in the hardest to reach spot on my layout.

This could be a common Gargraves and MTH problem, as I have a scale MTH 4-8-4 steam engine that don't like Gargraves switches either. Does the switch point close all the way?

I have looked at the rails as well, another thing to look at is the incline on your layout, does it have any unlevel places, even a quarter percent of an incline, you may need a carpenter's level to check for this.

May also be wise to check the gauge of the wheels and the gauge of the switch. Sometimes that can be an issue.
