A few functions:

Lights, front and back, alternates between white and red pending direction of travel

smoking steam whistle, cylinder smoke and from the stack synchronized to wheel rotation

cab light, firebox glow, ember glow, shunting light

sounds: brake squealing, turbo generator, water pump, air pump, injector, coal shoveling, etc.
