Just picked this up today:

According to the "Brown Book of Brass", it's actually a brass-cast hybrid, made in 1974...heck, I was still in high school!

Like the Roundhouse steamers of similar vintage, it has double gearing, a fairly low speed and has a similar "growl". I think after a proper break-in period it'll run quite well.

I think it's a rather nice looking little Pacific...

It's interesting the box labels it as a 3160 Class Pacific.  The 3160 Class were Mikados.  Oh well, who says the past was perfect?  They did release the same boiler with a Mikado drive a year or so later, though.

I located the one and only photo of my AHM/HCB Pacific.  When MR reviewed the model, they likened it to a 3400 Class Pacific.  I felt the model was a little too lanky for a 3400 class, so I swapped the sand dome and number board locations to represent a 3500 Class Pacific.
