I picked up an MTH Proto 3/2 SD24 in CNW and the hood-mounted bell was lost in shipping. Anyone have a line on where I could pick one up?

for that one i would fabricate the bracket out of brass or styrene , and modify a bell, and I am a scale guy
Look for a bell for Southern or Norfolk and Western. Miniatures by Eric may have them.
I added a bell to the front of a Baldwin AS-16 using this Overland bell and a handmade brass "L" mount (not the "V" )

It might be the right size for you, if not they have other bells.

Check out these from P&D Hobbies;
The first seems to be the bell & mounting bracket for an EL RS-2/3. You may need to do some filing to match the hood contour.
Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. Miniatures by Eric had one that's "close enough for government work". Now it's off to a local hobby shop for some appropriate green paint.
The bell mount in the red caboose GP9 kit looks identical to that.

Makes sense. The GP9, SD9, and SD24 essentially had the same short hoods. What surprises me is that MTH or 3rd rail didn't make an SD18 from the SD9 tooling since they're virtually the same hood structures.
Give MTH parts a try. They don't have much listed on the site, however they are very good at responding to e-mail queries about parts. I had good dealings with them when trying to get parts for my Premier Veranda. None of the parts were on the site and they didn't have much on hand. They did get in touch with the factory and got some parts in very quickly. If they don't pan out, maybe Precision Scale has a bell that will work. They have thousands of parts accurate scale parts.
