Can anyone help with the best way to reinstall the truck assemblies into the American Flyer F7 body shells? Thanks in advance

Hey Bill,
I think on the flyer units you spread the shells to clear the tabs on the chassis, but I have never had a Gilbert F unit.
To put the chassis back in, use shim stock to act as a shoe horn.
Why not bring them over to the Clinton street shops and we can look at them?
It's not easy at all. You really have to spread the sides if the body pretty far and you think the plastic is going to snap off. Be very careful of the early runs if the F7 that do not have the little brace behind the front steps near the tab homes, it's very easy to break the small piece of plastic there and ruin the tab hole. I heated the shells a little with a hair dryer to help make the plastic a little more flexible. Having a helper will save you some aggravation. One can spread while the other maneuvers the assembly into place.

Anybody know how to do a body repair when the worst happens? There must be a different motor truck that could be installed? Glue a new mounts along the inside of the cab? Any one been down this road? Thanks, Art
