Looks like the GS series will now have a smoking whistle!
"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.
Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Yes and the GS loco's have been updated with metal wheels and die-cast metal chassis...I'm in!!
I wish they would do some small motive power for those of us who operate Large Scale indoors (or would like to). At least one in each new catalog, or even every couple of years, would be nice.
Oh I run my USA Big Boy indoors!

there were VO1000 models that were released from MTH. They would handle very tight curves.
most of their models handle tight curves.
railking one gauge is back
YES !!!
I think they should change the numbers on the CN Dash 8s to 2100 series? The numbers they chose appear to be for C44-9W.

Also they chose a Dash 8 unit for the First Responders & Veterans units which should be an SD60E.

Yes, I believe that was to test the waters for sales. I'm trying to be kind here.
I'm still waiting for a new modern diesel model to be released. I had heard about a possible ES44 with charging lights.
USA trains painted their SD70MAC in heritage colors so it's been tried before. Sales are hard to argue with.
I can only state that if they made a new model, I would support it as best as I could afford. I will still get at least one of the Dash 8s. I would have ordered at least a set of three of another modern model if produced. So I will have to make my own still.

Yea, I notice a lot of model train companies for quite a few years put paint scheme on others units that are not the type in real life. But still, if that Dash 8, say was cheaper, I would buy it just because I love the First Responders Paint Scheme.

Says it will operate on R3 curves???? What is the diameter of that curve? Want to be able to run it inside if possible.
R3 should be a 4' radius/ 8' diameter. The GS locos have a articulated drivetrain like the LGB Mikado.
I was shocked at the engineering that they went thru to make that GS series articulated. I would have expected it to have blind drivers or something easy to handle tighter curves. It has to be an attempt to add sales to people with smaller layouts?
I would have thought adding a small steamer to the line up would have done the same? (gone after another segment of the market)
Because I prefer modern stuff, I can't help but feel that almost all the releases have gone after the more popular older eras. I do like their G scale products, more than any other brand I've owned. So I'm still waiting for more modern stuff from them.
Were the older runs of the GS-4s articulated? I am looking for a American Freedom Train but, really just for display purposes.
Yes, I believe all the G scale versions were. I might sell mine. I don't have the cars. I did see them for sale.

Good I have 9' curves so I will be able to do an around the wall.
Going to stick my neck out here but don't think it was articulated. I had one of the originals but never ran it. Had plastic drive rods but not sure of the wheels.
What do you think the street price will be.
Wow plastic rods?
I'm betting over a grand. List is 1200 is what's your guess?
I'll bet they'll start taking orders real soon though. The BB has been waited for a few years now to be delivered. I don't know what's the hold up. I wonder if something is wrong?
Even though these are Rail King versions, the G scale guys will jump on anything that isn't right. I swear they want MTH to fail, instead of enjoying what they deliver.

I recall seeing one of MTH's larger HO steamers that had some feature that allowed the center drivers to move laterally on curves. Without it, the unit's minimum radius was larger than the equivalent O gauge model with blind drivers.

Yeah they were all articulated..I've owned about all of them in one version or another over the years.
The CN Dash 8, goes by my train room about ten miles to the east. This may be added to my bucket list.
