I don't know who's all watching this newer G scale forum yet. I finally got my hands on a couple of extra Accucraft pass cars. I did not preorder so I took what was available. Here's a quick look.... ( a UP baggage and coach)
"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.
Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Who is accucraft. Do you know who bought aristo..
They have more precision and higher detailed stuff.
Aristo went to the relatives. Back in business as Polk's Gen Next.
How does MTH stack up vs Accucraft pass cars eg detail lighting, tracking?
These cars have metal roller bearing equipped trucks. They roll great. They have a solid feel being made of metal. I hope they'll track as well as expected. I have not ran them yet.
Surprisingly, there is no lighting inside! So there's no pick-up drag. They do have interiors. They have plastic non-working couplers in KD clone looking boxes. The car ends look good and I'll need to add pics.
It would be tough to compare as the MTH are priced much lower (1/2?). I would say the MTH are Railking level and these are Premier. These Accucraft cars are much bigger. I'm guessing that they are to scale. The trucks have 3 7/16" axle spacing.
Thanks Joe! Keep us posted after you get some track time.
USA pass cars are nice. Couplers metal.but the coupler bracket .part plastic part metal..the screw that holds coupler .is screwed in plastic and that breaks..i had to use 1/2 inch 4/40. Screw . with brass tubing to fix.
here is a better link for the passenger car information...
http://www.accucraft.com/model...-311.htm#page=page-1
there are 5 car types; Baggage, Coach (x2 in the 6-car set), 10-6 Sleeper, Diner and Observation.
the car length is listed as 80' (30"), but the Obsv looks like it may be an 85' car.
the most important thing to consider with this set is that it is 1:32 scale. behind an Aster or MTH Big Boy or Challenger the UP set (perhaps extended a bit more than the basic 6-car set ($2040... *ouch*?) would look super and if i weren't so heavily invested in freight i would really consider the purchase. behind an Aristo or USA (1:29) locomotive, these cars will definitely "look" too small.
as pointed out, if these cars aren't exactly prototypical for all the roads offered, they are true scale size and reflect fairly generic Pullman car types. being a live steamer in #1 gauge, i handle all my lighting requirements (fortunately up to this point limited to cabooses) internally with battery power. taking pickup skids off factory installed equipment has done nothing but improve rolling as an added perk.
cheers...gary
Joe, Very nice cars!
I spoke with Cliff @ Accucraft a few weeks back about obtaining some parts for a AML K4 and asked him about these passenger cars. He said they are sold out but there's another production run expected soon. After that they won't be made again. I see pre-order prices in the $1,700.00 range for the set of 6.

Thank you! I really hope they'd make an Amtrak painted version.

buy 5, get one free... sounds like a deal to me.
hopefully my car (auto) repairs will hit a lull when the bill comes due.
unfortunately i feel even 16' of train won't be enough to justify a Challenger in the lead, though.
that's the biggest problem with passenger trains, ... there aren't any half-way measures.
Joe, I've been on the fence about whether to buy the Accucraft cars in UP paint (yellow) or find some MTH smoothside cars and re-paint.
After seeing your pics and great review think I'll buy the Accucraft cars...10 in all.
True the Accucraft cars may be generic but all MTH offers is coaches...that's past generic as in boring.
There isn't much of a choice in 1:32 other than custom builders..which will cost way more than $300 per car. Heck when I helped out at St Aubin, those 1:32 Accucraft 12 car?? SP Daylight sets were selling for $12,000.00 I think as I can't really remember...I know it was a lot of $$$ but those sets sold.
Here's a quick picture with a MTH Challenger. I bought it used and think it has faded from being run outside both by me and before. When I added the smoke lifters, they were darker than the engine. The cars are slightly darker than both. I probably would have got the yellow ones if I had the choice. I'll see how the paint holds up this summer.
If it bothers me enough, I'll re-spray them in Amtrak colors!!

Nice Joe, Do you have an outdoor layout? Aristo is 1/29 not 1/32 correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes, Aristo makes stuff in 1/29 scale. Accucraft makes stuff in 1/32 and has another company called AML that is their 1/29 scale.
I do have an outdoor layout and an indoor one too.
