New Project: 2 Rail MKT GP38 #302, Mopac GP50 and more...

This weekend I installed a Blunami 4408 decoder, added windshield wipers, painted the class lights, installed and painted handrails on the GP50.  I'm mostly finished with these after weathering the air filter and radiator grilles.  I forgot to add a speed recorder to MP 3505, so that's on the to-do list.  MP 3505 is on the office loop now, running through some decoder functions.  The default volume is very loud, so turned it down.  Selected Leslie RS3L airhorn and 645 Turbo prime mover.  The cab chatter function is interesting to my daughter's Australian Shepard.    A couple of pics of SLSF 465 and MP 3505 to show their differences.

Thanks Mark!  I found some things I should have caught before final paint, but I'm mostly happy with these.  There's always room for improvement.

Very nice job. If you didn't say anything a person might assume it is a factory paint job.

Making some progress on a couple of models.  Added 1/4" square styrene mounts for Tang Band T1-1925S speakers in the GP38-2 #23XX and GP50 #3524.  The GP38-2 is based on a Weaver model, so the speaker will be located in the rear over the tower drive:

MP GP50 #3524 is based on an Atlas GP60, so the speaker will be mounted in the center, avoiding the dual truck-mounted motors:

Did some bodywork to GP50 #2, removed the toilet hatch from the nose and fit the battery box covers:

Fitted a snowplow to the GP38-2.  The plow is from an Atlas MP15DC that I didn't need, and is an excellent snowplow with hand grabs and MU doors.  Too bad Atlas doesn't offer these as spare parts.

Also started a unique model to Mopac, a GE loco rebuilt with an EMD Spartan cab.  Thanks to Jim (Big Train) for the FB2 truck sideframes!  These required some easy mods to mount to the U23B truck frames.  This U23B will likely get repainted in the later MP scheme in the 45xx series with 5" Scotchlite stripes and "Screaming Eagle" cab logos.  Mopac renumbered these from the 22xx to make room on the roster for GP38-2s acquired from Rock Island's bankruptcy.

Hopefully it won't be months before the next update.  I took the unfinished GP50 to STL RPM so I need to show some progress from last year!
