Steve,

Thanks so much for taking the time to post all of these. There's nothing like glass plates and a talented photographer to tell a story. There's so much historic detail packed into each one.  My favorite is the 1903 New Orleans scene with the steamers and reefer -- complete with open ice hatches.  I've been intrigued by the interface of the Mississippi river boats and the railroads and this photo cinches it for providing information. It's forty years' before my modeling period but still helps one inderstand the prototype.

Thanks again,

Tomlinson Run Railroad

Great pictures! To think a lot of the buildings and structures are still standing today but the people are long gone!

My favorite is the

1901| Petoskey , Michigan. "Grand Rapids & Indiana R.R. Station"

The guy standing there with his boat on a baggage cart waiting to load up and head out and do a little  fishing for the day!

Wow!  Thanks for sharing.  A lot of history.

That view is looking toward the area where you could rent the boats at one time and the back entrance to the Zoo(right).

The bridge has long been replaced,  a retaining wall was built along the edge of the lagoon and to the left is where they built the Farm in the Zoo.  Over all it hasn't really changed that much over the years.

L.I.Train,

Thanks for posting these stunning photographs.  These images from so long ago are oozing with nostalgia.  America at a much simpler time in our history.  In my opinion, these pictures capture the burgeoning raw power surfacing in our country in the early 1900s as well as the overriding optimism which existed in our people at that time.  I will be studying these for some time to come. Thanks again.
