After getting our new GLA 11 video done, I finally had time this evening to take my monthly look at the stats for this forum. I was very pleased to see that in September 2015 you folks did it again!

In September 2015, this forum served 8,212,367 page views...a new monthly record!

My thanks - again - to all of you who continue to make this forum the best place on the Internet to talk about O Gauge Trains.

Want to add my THANKS to the OGR staff for starting this forum and to ad man for finding those to keep it going (it was a great move to put him on staff).

And yes this is family that is brought out when at times someone has a medical need, etc. that doesn't pertain to trains (other wise braking the rules) and the moderators leave the thread stand.

Again THANKS!

Ed, I'm sure glad someone appreciates the moderation we do here to keep things on track. Not everyone does, you know...

I think the moderation is occasionally heavy handed, but overall this is an extremely well run, interesting forum. It should be remembered that we as a bunch can be a rowdy, cantankerous bunch of opinionated trainiacs, and we do tend to carry on at times...

The number can be good, but misleading as well,  how many people keep the site

minimized, on the computer, and do not cut the computer off, frequently.   I for one

have it on 1 of the computers in the house, and that computer possibly not been off in 2 weeks.  So, therefore, I enjoy the pics, layouts, Buy/sale, just a 2 second maximize,

will register a hit, thus expanding the page views.

That's truly impressive, Rich. Kudos to you, the OGR staff, sponsors, and fellow forumites. We're all integral parts of this great site who keep this mighty endeavor chugging along. Full steam ahead into the new train season, and may not only the page views continue to grow monthly but also the number of forum members who visit monthly.

BTW,to those reading this post who for whatever reasons are lurkers in the sideline shadows rather than posters, come aboard and try posting yourself. Overcome your trepidation and become a vocal part of our O gauge community. It's a fantastic opportunity we have to share our expertise, knowledge, thoughts, and opinions. Everyone is truly needed on this forum! Remember, not everyone knows every thing but everyone knows something - so share "your something" with the rest of us. We'll be glad you did!

Vernon....thanks so much!  AND...I want to thank each and everyone one of you and the sponsors/advertisers for truly being responsible for this forum's continued existence.  OGR is fortunate and very appreciative of the support we receive from the members of the forum, readers/subscribers of the magazine, and the advertisers...all of which make it possible for us to enjoy this hobby.

All the Best!

Just leaving your browser open to the forum for long periods of time without any activity doesn't change the page count. In order to log a page served, you have to actually click on something to call a new page from the server. Just maximizing the browser window without calling up a new page does not log a page served.

Good idea you have here and I second your thoughts and suggestions. Everyone has something to contribute even though they may think otherwise. Someone will get something from your post or from the discussions created from them. Lots of great information has been posted here in reply to others posts, many were first time posters.

Before finding this forum, the total internet forum posts I had ever made anywhere in the previous 25+ years could be counted on one hand. I had lurked elsewhere, but seldom posted.

Well I'm probably in the minority here.  My posting and forum usage has dropped significantly so I doubt I am the cause of the uptick.  Never the less it's a good sign that either people love trains or love seeing Rich's blood pressure rise.

I suspect in the coming months my participation will be down even more but I'm glad the forum is still going strong.  It's a nice distraction from life's reality.

Good news indeed. I thought the forums heyday was years ago, as some names I don't see anymore, I'm guessing members come and go over the years. Good to hear that people are still clicking away! Now OGR needs to take over all the other scales Z-G and be the one stop shop train forum website in the world  nothing lofty and just a thought.

George....have you taken a look at our new (only a few months old) "HONGZ" forum?

That's a pretty amazing number.  Since the Members page tells us there are 17,579 members, that means the numbers crunch as follows:

8,212,367page views, divided by
17,579members, equals
467page views, per member, per month, or almost
16page views, per member, per day

Obviously, all 17,579 members aren't active, but the count and arithmetic also do not account for unregistered guest viewing.  That's still a pretty active group.

I was there yesterday and while the subject didn't come up, I doubt that it has changed.  In my little group of friends, the majority do not get on the forum and only know about it when I bring it up.  The point is that the group that are active on forums like this is only the tip of the ice berg.

While word of mouth by forumites is effective in growing the forum, since OGR has a booth selling Ameri-towne, dvds, and OGR magazine why not have a few laptops online to the forum so attendees not familiar with the forum could peruse it.
Also place flyers on tables at entrances to halls informing attendees of the forum in the same way promoters use flyers to promote their shows.(This could be done at others shows & meets too.
