Dallas. The Santa Fe units are the units I wanted so bad when I was a kid in the 50s. Never got them though. Got some now 50 years later and it brings back so many memories. Beautiful set.

I guess good things come to those who wait John

Somewhere in my ancient history  ( maybe around 1954 or so ) we didnt have a lot for frivolities , ......but DAD made sure we got a train set on Christmas morning.   A Lionel 6220 switcher set.

I remember seeing the Santa Fes. The Santa Fe set was out of reach but I'll not forget how DAD took care of his three little guys after MOM passed.

Christmas sure has a wonderful way of keeping a special place in us................

Dallas. My two trains  was my dad's train which he bought in 1945 and the turbine set they gave for Christmas in 1957. I still have them and are priceless  to me. I guess everyone  has memories about their trains and I hope they are good for everyone. The F3s  were on my wish list but never happened . Loved my trains anyway  and still do. Happy New Year everyone.

Time for another 2 videos from The Tesla Whiskey Emporium and our new elevated train layout. First we have a forward facing GoPro camera mounted on a MTH Coors Light Engine.  Also in view is a double header MTH 999 0-4-4-0 pulling Polar Express Cars.

Next is with the camera facing back towards the Coors Light Cars and going through a PFA cycle with all the bells and whistles…opening doors, blue lights, and frosty smoke.

I've been running a long freight train all morning, so for the afternoon I decided to break out one of my big passenger sets instead. Here's my Milwaukee Road Hiawatha!

This is a MTH Premier set with the Skytop Lounge car, one of my favorite railroad observations. I won a sweepstakes in the TCA a couple years ago and used the prize money to purchase this beautiful set of coaches. I'm mostly into East Coast railroads but I really like the color scheme and styling of the Hiawatha streamliners.

For motive power I have the matching MTH EP-2 Bipolar. I always wanted one of these Bipolars but they were pretty pricey when I first came into the hobby. When Lionel came out with the Legacy Bipolars a few years back, the prices on these older MTH Proto 2 models plunged and I was able to pick a used one up for a song. I had to do some maintenance-- replace the traction tires, grease all the many gears and wheels and put a BCR in-- but since then it's been a strong, solid runner that handles the track well despite its size.

Here's the set thundering along the back of my layout!

Nice looking unique passenger train.

And from the looks of it you sure are having fun with your 3d-printing Ken .

Lionel LIRR Camelback pulling Atlas O Trainman passenger cars. I painted the interiors of the cars and added figures A sharp eyed viewer would notice that the vestibules of the cars are slightly different The rear vestibule has three ribs while the front vestibule has four This is because when I put the four rib vestibules on both ends of the  cars they looked great and had no trouble on my club’s wide curves but simply could not go through the yard turnouts without derailing I decided I preferred the one long one short look better than the two short one What do you think?
