It's 8 am Saturday and I've been up since 5, gel coating.
I did some test washes using my standard matt black and my seawater green.
The unpainted bit in the centre module served well, as it's the same plaster.
So, to start washing . . .
The sand has built up around the row of old piles where the old jetty once stood, and around the rails of the slipway.
Now the gel is applied.
Those who watched the movie (above), will know that it goes on white and sets clear.
It's plied up against the shoreline and the old piles. The leeward side of the swells are smooth, while the windward sides are choppy. The wavelets are applied using the heel of the palette knife; the thinner the layer of the gel, the smaller the wavelets.
I've started to make the gel thicker to the right side, as I'm preparing for bigger chop as I move further into deeper water.
It will take a couple of days now to set up, so I'll turn my attention to the centre module.
Then I can go back and add more gel, if it need to touch it up. I also want to wait until then before I paint gel on the rocks, which will disturb what I've just done if I do it now.
Cheers
