Problem - install Proto-Sound 2

Version 5.0 is the latest consumer loader available.  I would down load that and try it.

Your post suggests to me that there something basic going wrong. However you don't give us much to go on.

Is the engine working? Is this an upgrade? Is the battery dead? Do you hear a click when power is applied?

Could you have the power wires reversed? Do you have the piece of track powered for the load? Is it the whole layout?

Just some guesses from what you posted.

also how much current does  it draw when powered up? does it run on conventional?

give us something to work with!

If you have added the locomotive to the remote, it's not at ID #0.

However, I STRONGLY recommend you upgrade to the Loader 5.0, a lot has changed since 2.3.4.

It would help if you told us something about the environment, version of the TIU, level of software in the TIU, are you using the serial connection or USB, etc.

The locomotive was working.

There was a problem and I decided to install new boards (PS-2 set). As I said it is not an upgrade; is a new installation. Yes, when power is applied I hear a click. The power wires does not reversed. They are correct.

No. I'm using a piece of rail totally isolated from my layout.

More details: The TIU I'm using is not the same as my layout. Its SW version is 4.20: and the TIU is: H-2 Rev (Old). By the way, it working very well.

(In my layout I use a TIU I REV.)

As I mentioned there was a problem with my original PS2 boards and decided to install a new set.

TIU is not the same as my layout.

My PC is running Windows 7 /64 bits; and I´m using a cable RS232 X USB, to connect TIU/PC.

Regarding Loader 2.3.4., I installed another Proto-Sound Sound file, using the same Loader on another locomotive and the result was positive.

I know it's not the last version, but I would eliminate this option.

Perhaps, the problem might be the new PS2 set. I'm doing some tests and tomorrow I'll confirm for you.

Is this new set an upgrade kit or something removed from another engine? 

It is not recognized by the loader so we need to figure out what is wrong. If it were working properly the loader should see it on the rails.

Given this additional information, I suspect the new board set may have issues. If not, then there's something connected incorrectly.

Follow the directions on the screen exactly, if you do not, you will get odd error messages. If it adds to the remote and runs the train, double check you wiring. Do you have the red and black wires reversed from the TIU to the track?

You are right. After several tests, the conclusion is the  PS-2 set is not working. So, I bought from a person in the United States, like a new, but when I needed it,  was not working properly.

2-6-6-6 - Imperial Allegheny is a locomotive very beautiful. I intend to put it back into operation. I need to think what to do.

MTH is not producing PS-2 boards anymore. On the other hand, I heard that there is a kit to turn PS2 into PS3. I have no details of this product. Could you give any details, about this subject, pls?

There is a PS32 board that is sold only to MTH techs.  This is a plug-in replacement for a PS/2 board, one has 5V connectors and one has 3V connectors.  If you want to send me the PS/2 boards, I can test them and perhaps restore them to working order.  If not, we can discuss getting you running with the PS32 board, it's probably the cheapest alternative if the PS/2 boards are not repairable.

Here's a 5V PS32 board, the 3V board is identical with white connectors.  These replace the older PS/2 boards as those are no longer available from MTH.

did you try a conventional reset on your ps2 board and does the engine run in conventional?

I agree with you. Repairing PS2 cards is a mystery.

I believe the best solution is to go directly to PS3 .

On the other hand, I have 03 sets of PS2 that for me, is of no use at all.

I have a doubt. If I replace a PS2 board to a PS3 board will be necessary to do some hardware alterations?

My Allegheny  loco is 3v.
