Im new to O-Scale and DCS, using TIU Rev L- 5.0 firmware. Have 3 new PS 3 engines all work fine, got a PS 2 engine off eBay. When I add engine everything works fine. When I power down the system and come back later with this same engine on track it is unresponsive, get error no engine on track, shows as inactive but can't activate. If I re-add it works fine again, but have 2 engines in list. Can delete old engine, whole process repeating every time track power is shut down. Any ideas?

Sounds like battery bad in engine!
Charge the battery until it can sustains engine sounds for 6-7 seconds after track. power is turned off.
This and a whole lot more is all in “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!" This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at OGR’s web store! |
You'll have to revise the book, Barry, for the PS3S board.
I had a new ps2 with a defective board that did that.
Only defective new ps2 i ever got.
PS3S board.
??
As far as I know it is PS2. I left it on powered up track for a couple of hours to charge the battery, that appears to have done the trick, it ran for at least 10 seconds after power cut, and came right back up, and is recognized by the controller.
Thanks all for the advice.
Barry, the ps3 board in the 44-ton, designed for S gauge. Cuts off too fast.
Robert,
That's just a bit off this thread's topic.
Not really. Many forum readers learn and apply what they have learned to their own equipment. It is no longer correct to simply say a PS2 or PS3 board should play for 6-7 seconds. To be precise, one must say that an O gauge PS2 or 3 board will play for 6-7 seconds, and an S-gauge board for 2-3. To be really precise, one must also note that the 44-ton loco uses the S-gauge board. Don;t you like to be precise, Barry? Other than that, hope you & the family had a happy T'day.
