I have a PW ZW that I use for lighting on my layout. After about 20 minutes the internal breaker trips and the left lite comes on.. It comes back on then 20 min latter it trips again. I checked with my amp probe. All four channels are pulling about 6 amps total. I thought I could pull closer to 10 amps. Transf. is old. Can the internal circuit breaker be replaced? Or am I over budget on power? Nick

The breaker in a Postwar ZW usually trips around 15 amps. You breaker might be going out. You can usually get about 10 amps continuous output out of a Postwar ZW, but the case will become warm to the touch.
New breaker needed, it shouldn't trip anywhere close to 6A.

John is this the breaker? Thanks Nick

Yep, that's it. Many folks opt to simply replace it with a 10A or 12A automotive breaker.
There may be less expensive breakers, but I replaced my ZW breaker with this one from ebay:

Easy drop-in replacement for the old breaker.

Thanks Joe I will go with this one. I use modern power for my 4 track districts but I love the old PW ZW's for my lighting.
Yep. The listing Joe has from eBay posted is the same seller and breakers that I use. Great seller to deal with and reasonably priced. Has lots of other good stuff for Transformers on his site.
