Quasi-newbie G Scale questions (Aristocraft, LGB)

If I am not mistaken, all Aristocraft locomotives and cars had Hook and Loop couplers (LGB) included in the box.

I only received what's shown in the photos.

Update:  The smokestack is removable, which reveals a smoke unit.  The switch near the boiler is a three-position switch with no markings.

Regarding the couplers Kadee makes couplers for almost all applications. LGB is top of the lineAristocraft is out of business but on the secondary market usually commands good prices. Don’t have any Aristocraft trains so can’t tell you how they run.

The tether leading to the tender is for the sound. The switch on the engine controls the smoke unit I believe.  Just a word of warning; do not try pushing the loco by hand as you will only strip the gears. Parts used to be cheap but I have no idea as to availability these days.  I have a couple of these locomotives and they run quite well
