I've got an Atlas O GP-35 with Railsounds 4.0 (1142-1 @2009).  The railsounds worked fine when I received it.  I put it back in the box while building my layout.  I just unboxed it today and gave it a run and discovered the sounds are shot.  Lots a static and clipping.  No engine sounds, etc.  When I hit the crew talk or tower com I get different static and clipping.  Same with the horn and whistle.

Any theories and what could have happened?  Any suggestions on how to fix it short of sending it back to Atlas for servicing?

I did remove the shell (not an easy task) and look for loose wires but didn't notice anything.

Thanks,

George

If that doesn't do any good, get a chip puller and remove/reseat the big chips on the board.  From your description, you could be losing one or two bits due to corrosion/dirt on one or two pins.
