Cadillac Square, Detroit , Michigan, 1916
Woodward Avenue, Detroit , Michigan, in 1917
These photos show Cadillac Square when Detroit was prosperous. The large size of the trolley cars is impressive. The car with the open platform is unusual.

All you trolley fans should check out RAILPACE magazine, nice article on Conn.'s trolley museums.
Concentrating on Rhode Island trolley lines:
I cannot read the print on this Rhode Island card. Perhaps someone out there can identify the place?

I guess a head for heights was needed when riding the top deck. Howth Tramway in Ireland, 1959.

Lol, I do this regularly on my layout, now I don't feel nearly as bad as the above drivers did I bet.
Judging by the destination board of the car on the right, the wreck appears to be on the Fonda, Johnstown & Gloversville in New York. My guess is the wreck also blocked the yard lead, so the ops manager must have been tearing his hair out!
The car on the left appears to have struck the other car. Also, the motorman in the left car is on the left, so the car on the right may have been in his blind spot.
Wish me good luck, fellas... Filled out my employment application yesterday to be a streetcar operator on the new Oklahoma City system, to become operational later this year. This is a great opportunity I just could not pass up, now I am retired and can do so. Only, it will be taking much needed time away from working on my layout. Oh well... must make sacrifices!!

Good luck with your application !! sounds like fun !

Thanks, Brian... I have my fingers crossed, and it will help me obtain some "train spending" funds !! Running rails to help purchase more trains...…. Not to mention the enjoyment, experience and meeting perhaps more train enthusiasts.
I do not see how it could be any harder, even with the auto traffic getting use to sharing the streets, than driving the fully loaded semi's over the roads and highway/freeways I did before. Should be a bit like when I drove school bus (that was fun!) only the route and turns are determined, cannot make any wrong turns, just stick to the rails!
" Running rails to help purchase more trains..." perfect match...
Love this thread. Would anyone happen to have pics of the old trolley/work barn from Preston, (now Cambridge) Ontario at Riverside park?
Shame kids burned it down years ago.

Thank you Bobby Ogage.
Used to "play" and visit that park quite frequently, miss the old barn/workshop, was always an imposing building as a kid.

Does anyone have photos of the Willow Grove trolley or the Willow Grove fair that ran at the end of the line in the summer?
