Well my local Ace hardware doesn't carry the 1" wide white or yellow tape, just the red/white 2" wide tape. I'll have to check the one in Olympia.
Steven,
Thanks for your help.

Automotive body REFLECTIVE pin-striping in available in narrow sizes.
There are a few stores that sell it on-line. Check with a web search for the current stores.

I have used the automotive reflective striping from the following provider online.

Ed, what widths did you use? I am leaning towards the 1/8" and 1/10". Looks like the width Steven cut them to was closer to 1/10" which would be close to a scale width of 4". The striping on the GP30 prototype appears to be close to 6" in width. Here's a link to the prototype: http://archive.trainpix.com/BN/EMDORIG/GP30/2244.HTM

Larry,
I originally bought the 1/12 and now purchase 1/10. On some of the newer cars where the non-reflective stripes are painted on, I have found that the 1/10 is almost a perfect fit. However, the difference in width between the 1/10 and 1/12 is hardly noticeable on the dashed striping. Per the actual Federal regulations, that I attached, the actual width is 4" (see pages 175-185).

Thanks for the info, Ed. I'll have to order some from the outfit you have used.
