First time posting this HO forum.
While on a yahoo signaling forum about IR detectors, a youtube URL pointed to a a home built version. Immediately following was a video detailing the Roco SmartRail (not sure how that was signal connected) allowing you to run your HO engine in place. Another video detailed the inner workings consisting of two motor driven parallel spring "rails", sensors to keep engine centered, wifi connection to smartphone to control engine. All for $628 USD.

Not sure why you would want this unless traveling. I would think a set of Jak rollers and a DCC setup would do the same. But for this $628 you get a high quality wood base, and a tongue and mortise (?) carrying case, though not sure how well it would survive airline baggage smashers
