There are several spots I need to add sprng action to a bunch  of Ross switches for automatic continuous running.  Not wanting to reinvent the wheel I am curious what others have done to provide a spring action turnout feature for reverse loops and passing sidings.

My thought is to mount fine piano wire along side the stock rail and bow it out to pick up the throw bar for flange operation of the points.  Absolutely no motor operation  desired.

This will be in a hard to reach layout area so it must be bullet proof.

??????

Thanks

Tom, is the idea that a train enters from the right, takes the lower route through the switch, then goes around the loop to come out on the upper leg to temporarily push the points down as it moves back through and then they return to the original position for the next run through? I take it this is when you want trains to use the same route all the time?

I never could get a spring to work.  What I  do is attach a thread to the throw bar then run it through a loop si it turns 90 degrees down.  I can adjust the tension by hanging washers to the lower end so the lightest car passes through without derailing yet it pulls back afterwards.  The one in the picture still needs to be hidden.20250216_135015
