So my layout design involves a really tricky area and I'm having a hard time locking things down. I have an access corridor from my garage that is right where an O-72 curve should go. 20180420_220846

My first thought was some hinge section on wheels that would roll outward towards the garage. But the engineering and that furnace duct on the left, scrapped that plan. I'm thinking of putting in a hinged lift away section here that would hinge off of the big table. My other problem is cutting the fastrack for this. Or how to make that work. I have never cut fastrack and the angle it would have to be cut at would be kind of weird. I have no problem crawling under the track, but my wife's 80 year old grandfather, who loves trains, might.

I can see what Dave's talking about.  Build a roll away module as he has indicated in blue...Use guide pins for relocation, hook and eye latches to lock it in, and then use something like automotive contacts, like you would find on Chevy Tahoe/Suburban rear doors for connecting the track without the use of the pins.

Here's what I'm talking about:

No hinges, no cutting. You'd remove the connector pins, but make sure the tracks won't move. You'd run jumper wires to the lift-out section using some type of quick connects that could be unplugged. Here are some links to videos that give you ideas for how to do things. They get a little complicated when it comes to wiring, so you'll have to decide on how much safety you need. They use switches, etc., to cut power so trains don't accidentally run through the section while it's removed. The main thing is you need a ledge for the section to rest on when in place, some type of alignment system so the tracks line up when the section is in place and power feeds. Someone might have better links, these are what I found with a quick search.
