"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

As people in the Lego community call the scale of Lego trains L- Gauge and I do model L gauge more than any other scale, and do custom work for clients I would like to see other people lego trains. One of three models I'm working on two for a client who's Lego set up is in her Garden/ Basement, and this one is mine. The other two already have pony trucks, working head lights, cab lights, all their jewelry (whistle piece, builders plate, bell (60 dollar gold chrome plated Lego piece)) side rods, working valve gear, ect. All is 100% Lego expect side rods, and wheels which are custom made. She has asked me not to post pictures of her locomotives since they are going to be unveiled at BrickWorld Indianapolis. I will show mine once all the parts come in.

I meet that gentleman at BrickWorld in Chicago this year absolutely breathtaking Lego builder.

With the group of Legos builder I know we all build in 8 stud wide. The Lego train sets sold are of 6 stud wide. Now the wheel sets under the tender of the locomotive are all built of Lego since I don't like the look of the modern wheel holders that Lego sells. One of the two locomotives for the client was shipped today since the other one is giving me problems of not wanting to keep on the rails. For my own custom lego layout I have started work on another coach will post photos once those parts come in as well.

I don't have a LEGO layout, thought about it, but went with O instead.  I will be using LEGO cars and minifigs on the layout, maybe even a building or two.  But I do have all the LEGO Power Functions train sets (As far as I know.).  My boys and I set up a temp layout on the floor for a weekend and play sometimes.  I have made one custom locomotive, a Garrett using two Emerald Night sets.  I wanted to make more locomotives, but I came tot eh party late and LEGO had retired the set.  I really wish LEGO would release it or another as serviceable steamer set.  There are so many different steam locomotive types I want to build with LEGO.

Bricklink is how I get all my parts, and for custom steam locomotives I use Big Ben Bricks wheels. For curves that are wider radius than what Lego offers I use ME models track. If you can take a photo of the Garrett.

I'm not one for buying the parts piece wise.  I prefer to buy the set that has all the parts and just rearrange them.  I've got two of the Maersk sets to make a DD locomotive for that reason.

As for the Garrett, I have photos, just not with me at work.  I did post a couple on here a while ago.  Here's one of the posts.

A nice Challenger.

A very impressive highly detailed diorama.

Definitely keep us up to date. if you need a starter set 2014 City Cargo set is a good starter set.

Today has been a day of frustration. Had the second locomotive in its package to be shipped and sure enough as I handed the package to the USP man he didn't have a hold of it, and it hit the ground with a clunk that makes any modeler shiver with fear.  Sure enough the locomotive is in many pieces and will have to be put back together. Thankfully she is fine with it. My station building she is building is stuck in the fact she is running short on tan pieces.

I still have the locomotive since I can rebuild it. My USP mail person is really nice and will pick up the package when it's ready to be shipped. That's the one main problem with custom models no instruction. Thankfully I can rebuild the locomotive. I will have it back together soon. Thankfully the Station building is being shipped in panels.
