Pulmor motor

fan driven smoke unit

The fan driven smoke unit seems to work fine in command mode. However, in transformer-only conventional mode, the fan does not push the smoke out of the stack. If I blow down the stack, smoke pours out from under the shell so I'd assume that the element is making smoke but noting is coming out of the stack.

Any ideas? Again, it works fine in command mode.

Thanks,

Mike

imo, some of these units were not very good in conventional mode just not enough voltage.

Thanks Bigdog. Hoping that's not the case here but it seems believable.

GGG,

Yes, the puff only happens when the cherry switch makes contact.

I tried giving full throttle in neutral and while it did create more smoke (visible) down inside of the stack) it never kicked the fan motor on once the loco is underway at a reasonable speed.

I'll try loading it up with more cars this week to see if I can reach a threshold of voltage where it kicks on.

Thanks Gents.

Mike
