"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

You need a subwoofer enabled to properly hear this.

I've been very interested to see how BLI's new Paragon3 system was going to perform. Bob Grubba does a presentation on the BLI website, but I wanted to see it somewhere else.

Here is JLWii2000 doing his little review. Skip to the 15:50 mark on the video for a quick comparison of an engine running both  .... with BLI's subwoofer system, and without it.

I'm confident that first hand, the sound differences will be like comparing my old Pacific Fast Mail Sound System 2 with and without the external woofer in conjunction with the PFM bypass filter that accomplished the same thing: Routing the bass notes to the woofer. The depth it added by doing so made "tender only" sound seem very miniature and artificial.

At this point I still intend to model only the diesel era in my HO empire... but gotta' admit this new system is making me think about some steam as well.

Sure sounds great!

I really love sound. It was a big factor bringing me back into the hobby ..... both Lionel Legacy in O, and decoders such as ESU Loksound in HO.

But, smooth slow-speed running is even more important to me. Has anyone had any experience with these BLI decoders? Is the slow speed motor control is as good as the Loksounds in the Atlas models?

If they're smooth runners .... I'm going to fit a couple into my industrial switching layout, in some way.

I need to see it in person.

I was under the assumption that BLI engines were good in all aspects, but "master at none" ..... slow speed operation, sound, or detail.

I have some 4-axle 1st generation diesels on order from Atlas and Athearn for my to-be-built layout, but I'm really interested in this subwoofer system. If these Paragon3 engines are comparable, maybe Ill switch to their SD7/9's.

I really like the sound files in the ESU decoders, though ... and they run so well. Even the Tsunami's in the Athearns.
