Steel Cable in O Gauge/Scale.

I am trying to simulate Steel Cables in O Scale. I am attempting to use this to simulate tying down a load to a flat car (Lionel PS-4). I was thinking about using music wire. Its pretty hard. So I would not have to tighten it in anyway.

I was thinking about using somewhere around .020" diameter. Is that close to O gauge?

If anyone has any better suggestions I am open to them.

Sort of as Bob said, I'd look at metallic threads. Much easier to work with.

Use 24 gauge stranded wire. Twist it. Paint with dark gray primer

Size 2 silk suture thread is braided silk, black, and just about 0.020.

It's easy to work with, secures with CA, and practially unbreakable as well.

I've still got some of the old wooden spools so just let me know if you want a couple of feet,
