Following Stout auction today and folks bidding like crazy! A good many items really topped off folks who bought lots with multiple cars got a pretty good deal dividing cost per car. I wound up buying a Monon diesel for a decent price. Were there deals to be had? All depended on your pocketbook and add about 18-20% for commissions and freight and tax if you live in Indiana. But even with all that its look good that the hobby is alive and well---according to the auction!

I was watching that auction too.  It seem to me that the prices were lower then previous months. So items went throw the roof, but K-line passenger 21" cars were definitely a lot lower, looks like the new Lionel 21 passenger cars may have driven the price down.

Jim,

Stout is normally very good about grouping cars and having great photos, in the case of the K-Line 21" that was not the case. They offered mixed lots with ATSF, NYC, and mixed 21" and 18" cars. One group have photos of a UP engine as well. I would say that may well have had a meaningful impact on the sale price -- who pays good money for a pig in a poke?

The recent prices on the largest online auction for the North Coast Limited were the highest I've ever seen on those cars, a three car grouping of UP cars had the auction close early and relist "buy it now" at $900.00 with a quick sale.

I would agree that overall the prices on certain K-line trains isn't what it once was, prices are down from their all time highs, but that is mainly in the CZ with the release of the Atlas cars, and the ATSF hi-levels with the GGD release; However, even in both those cases prices realized are still north of the original K-line MSRP, and way, way above the blow out pricing seen when K-line was closing / just closed.

Just my two cents, but I have been keeping more than a casual eye on K-line 21" car prices over the past 7 years.
