Super TIU Problem

Yes sir, Your power supplies are out of phase with each other. First we need to know what you're using for power for each tiu. Usually the fix is to rotate the wall plug on one of the transformers.

Testing.... take your volt meter and measure the voltage between the center rail on tiu#1s track and the center rail on Tiu #2s track. (Yep center rail to center rail) Voltage should only be a few volts if any) If the voltage is in the 30 to 40 volt range the transformers are out of phase.

I am using two MTH Z 4000.

Went out and checked and I am out of Phase. Thanx Gregg.
Didn't figure that would be a problem with two Z's with the plug suppose to keep in phase must have been made on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon.

Yeah , that's too bad, unfortunately you're not the first one that has had 2 Z-4000s out of phase with each other. Not very often but every now and then this problem shows up.

Gregg hit it right on about the transformers being out of phase. But I have a question. Do you have both transformers plugged into the same outlet?

The exact same situation happened to me, back when I started wiring the layout. One "older" Z4000 and one much "newer" Z4000. I contacted MTH, and gave them the serial numbers of the two different transformers. The man quickly informed me which serial number to return for "repair" and that was the end of the phaseing problem.

The first four numbers of the serial # is the month and year.

I switched transformers and problem went away . I will contact MTH tomorrow and see what they say'
