#SwitcherSaturday is back!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

Last week we had some great pictures (more than 60) and comments, take a peek here!

In honor of the York show, today at the Murnane house we have my three Pennsylvania steam switchers on duty!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend, if you get a chance, please post some pictures or video of your favorite switchers!

Best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

p.s.s. See any good switchers for sale at York?   Let us know and post some pics!  I really need to try to go next time, the whole "work" thing gets in the way every time!

This is my friend's HO switching layout. It measures 2 X 7 feet and includes a small yard, three customer sidings, a team track and a run around. The crew starts the day with a drill slip and, despite the railroad's compact size, it can still take a few hours before we're finished with our work. The layout packs a lot of fun in a small space. The locomotive is my Bachmann GE 70 tonner custom painted and detailed for the Rahway Valley Railroad.

Yay! Sw Sat!

A little late late for me but better than never right.

This weekend I'm posting images of the Alco HH (or high hood) series of Switchers that predate WW2. The grouping was HH600, HH660 and HH1000. Not too many were made under 200 total before the war and production stopped.

Amazingly considering thier age a few are still around running in small industrial use as well as a few in preservation.

The images without the hoods on I find fascinating.

These have yet to be made in 3rail and only in the last few years been made in HO.
