Trying for the first time to see if I can get a video to post here starting with a mini-DVD in my cam-corder.  I tried yesterday but the forum rejected the file due to it being too large.  I then guessed that I could probably only shoot about 1 minute's worth.  I think after seeing the file size on this 1 minute version that I might get away with 2 minutes, tops though.

The engine's tender has a big roller on the bottom with metal balls in it, I suppose to simulate chuffing.  Sorry about the noise if you are listening.

OK, I still ain't sure I can do this but here goes.

Well, it sorta worked.  I had to click on the little box down in the 'attatchments' section to get something to play.  The big black box embedded within the post kept saying 'Buffering' and never got past that.

I would appreciate some advice:  This one minute video, using a mini-DVD from my cam-corder, created a file of size 41.82MB.  The limit on the forum is 100MB so I guess I can do 2 minutes.

How do you guys get videos that at 5 and sometimes 10 or more minutes long to post?????  Do you first put the video on a site such as YouTube and then point to it???  I don't have a Youtube acct but I could create one.

Yes, YouTube is how to post longer videos than what the Forum would allow. The site also converts and produces alternate versions at a number of resolutions for different connection speeds. I've had videos as long as 30 minutes up there (that was videogame footage--most of my train videos I try to hold down to 4 minutes or less)

Thanks Spence.   I appreciate you 'educating' me!

I looked at few videos on the forum after I posted my question and did see Youtube being used a lot, but I still couldn't tell if that was WHY longer videos could be shown.

OK, time to sign up on Youtube!

WOW, that's a L-O-N-G time to have it up!  I start building mine after October York taking about 6 to 7 weeks.  Keep it up til mid-Jan and down it comes.  This is the first year that I built an Easter display.  Typically trains stay in storage from January to October.

I am enjoying running this simple layout way more than I ever thought that I would.  I like reverting to conventional and running them the old way.  Nice change of pace.
