That’s a nice Cat crane that you have there. How did it get to the scene?
Hi Bob, you opened up a bag of worms! LoL
The crane was purchased on Amazon and manufactured and imported by Huina, a model manufacturer in China. It is a very nice model for the $'s, I was not happy with the toy manufacturer name so I changed it to CAT with the help of a Canon Photo Printer.
The CAT crane resides on the outer siding which is a trackside repair station on my layout. It's California Sierra red clay territory as my model town of Paradise is in the northern Sierra Mountain foothills. I added the muddy red clay to the tracks on the crane for a little realism. The crane wasn't far from the derailment and just had to travel up the access road to the "road out of town" to access the derailment.
Here's some additional photos for Trackside Thursday, even though it's midnight on the west coast.
CAT crane heading to the derailment being led by a Dodge Power Wagon service truck.
Almost to the RR crossing where the derailment occurred.
WP 1925 Boxcar lifted back up onto the rails, and WP 26416 Coal Hopper loaded onto a Great Northern flat car coal load and all!
Ready to roll pulled by a WP GP35 and off to the the repair shops! Going to need more than trackside service this time.
Oh yeah, after cleaning up the mess on the rails, everybody met at Molly's Diner for some awesome grub!
Happy Friday to all!
