I wanted to have the Stationsounds but the cars Lionel offered did not go with my MTH Pennsylvania Heavyweights. Even if they had I did not like the $400 price attached to them.

My solution was to purchase this used car listed on the Bay at a low price and remove the sound system and controls and install it into the MTH Baggage car which has a lot of unused space that is hidden.

The hardest part of the change was the removal and swapping of the Lionel axle with the magnet for the sensor. MTH screws on the truck side frames. Lionel stakes the side frames to the trucks that needed to be ground down until the axle would come out.

The mounting of the pickup sensor required a small hole drilled into the MTH coupler for mounting of a bracket made out of brass.

After the swap I just needed to re-stake the side frames. The only reason I put the truck back together was a friend with the Lionel set of these cars wanted to buy the dining car when I was done.

This was a small project that only took a few hours to complete and with the dining car running behind the baggage car you can not tell where the sounds are coming from.
