Wife and I are going to Chattanooga, with a stop in Louisville, KY along the way, to ride the Chattanooga Choo-Choo to Georgia and back. Then on to Nashville for a few days before returning home. I'm interested in suggestions of things to see (railroad (of course, first), Civil War, and other historical or natural wonders. Also interested in good places to eat.
All suggestions appreciated.

Check out the TENNEESSEE VALLEY RAILROAD home of Southern 4501 and 630. They also have a lot of interesting railroad equipment on site.
There is a LOT of Civil War history in and around Chattanooga, including a drive high up on the MTN., cemeteries, the downtown railroad car hotel, and stuff l probably missed. There has been more than one tinplate convention there. Going down you could detour to Gatlinburg and the Smokies.
If you go through Indy, a must see is Muffins trains.
Not RR related but on August 21st the total solar eclipse is slated to cross the country very close to where you will be. Not sure what your dates are but this is truly an event. I am making the trip to the best weather area I can get to in a day.
