I am getting ready to two-rail a couple of Lionel round-roof boxcars.  I am told that Northwest Short Line wheelsets are best if I’m using the original Lionel trucks. (I do plan to use body-mounted Kadees)

My question is whether I should use the 33 inch or the 36 inch wheel sets.

I’m looking forward to a reply.

I agree 33 inch wheels.     There were probably some heavy duty cars that used 36 inch even then.

B&O cars that had the rounded roof, were called Wagon Top because of the way the design.   The whole body was built sort of like an old covered wagon with the hoops holding the canvas.     ON the B7O cars were all steel of course.    PRR and other round roof cars were basically conventional design with rounded roofs.
