1948 Varney reintroduced the prewar Streamlined Steam engine....same year as their introduction of their EMD F3's....
Modelers all went for the new diesels as did the real railroads.
StromBecker introduced a new line of HO scale cardboard and wood models including a B&O Streamlined diesel passenger train.
The StromBecker line was designed as floor toys with wood wheels, floor , roof and cardboard sides ...however some were upgraded for rail use.
Here we have a Varney Streamlined steamer modified to a Streamlined PRR K4 ...pulling a set of StromBecker B&O passenger cars with useable trucks ...all circa 1948.
