Jonathan,
I don't know how difficult it will be but I plan to find out. Malcolm
Looks great to me. Hope they get them to market soon. I want New Haven so I wait or have it painted.
Finally! We are going to get a 44 ton switcher!

Nice looking model.....Peter
Looks great, don't know if it can be two railed though.
I suspect the pilot is opened out a bit to accommodate the hi-rail coupler, but the steps at the ends hint that the pilot is fixed. I think I'm in for one.
NICE! Finally the wait will be over! I hope the frame and Fuel tank are all Die cast! Can't wait for a Demo, PRR, and a Strasburg model!

Will we be able to buy two and run them together in one train? Wondering since they are so small will they run like multiple HO engines in conventional. http://southern.railfan.net/im.../1953-atlanta177.jpg
didn't pick it up, however look at the underside of the truck thru the clear plexi shelf, looks like the trucks are screwed together, maybe it will be an easy conversion, some one asked Bachmann if they would offer a 2-rail version, their reply was they did not feel their are not enough 2-railers to weren't producing it in 2-rail.
prrhorseshoecurve, everything below walkway is to be die cast, above plastic

That seems to be the case. Has me thinking about what scale my next layout will be built in. I wish I liked HO more. They sure have a lot of equipment to chose from. Perhaps it is an acquired taste?
As far as this model goes, I'm sure someone will 2 rail it. My money is on Malcolm

I did not see it any place but I just got an email from a friend at York who said the price is $399. MTH really missed the boat here ( my opinion) so thank you Williams by Bachmann.
$399 is their catalog price, I would expect store price in the $225 range, it was the talk of the show. A real big winner there.

I was told a command board will fit into it and they may make it in undecorated, I'm in love!!!!
It was stated that the motors are actually in the trucks. Some kind of small motor. I assume they applied this technology from another model. My expectation would be that it would be tough to convert to 2 rail.
We will have great pre order pricing up tomorrow on our site
I'll get command into it, wait and see. Maybe sound as well.

Nice. Did they say how long it would take for production and delivery?
Dave, great commentary and photos on your blog.
Clarification about the 2-rail question: WBB said the likely number of orders for a 2-rail version would not meet the production minimums set by their builders. So, the minimum quantities aren't necessarily completely within WBB's control.
And while a large proportion of 2-railers could be inclined to buy, that market is a niche inside a niche market (3-rail 'O'), so it's easy to imagine Kader not wanting to bother.

Thanks for posting this. I will be in on one for sure to repaint. A good friend runs one out in Alliance Ne for AEP . Or hope it is the same engine. I will need to check with my LHS if they can get it if not I will check with Nassau Hobbies.
Here's a real 44 ton switcher.
t8,
That is a GE SL-136. A bit newer and from the pictures, looks a lot bigger than the 44T.

Thanks, after posting I started to compare the two and realized the difference. I think I could still use one, If I recall Burlington had some. Thanks again. Nick
I'd love one in the NWO&W livery!
Peter
I am excited about the scale WBB 44 tonner, it has been the missing link in the mainstream O gauge loco line up for too long.
Someone did tell me that Andy from MTH said at the DCS dinner that MTH will have one in the next catalog.
Here's Jack Lynch at the TCA open house. If you jump ahead to 3-1/2 minutes, he not only talks in depth about the upcoming 44-ton switcher, but there are quite a few good shots of the prototype. He says there are dual motors with flywheels, so it sounds like typical Williams construction, and not truck mounted motors.
That opening in the frame for the coupler isn't very big, but Jack states it will run on 027 curves, so lets hope it's not another situation like the initial RMT Beeps, where they derailed everything they pulled on 027 curves until RMT enlarged the opening.

Larry Harrington, GM for WBB, showed me the working prototype and said the loco will have two small motors with fly wheels, one horizontally mounted in each truck. As far as pulling power, he said he has pulled a dozen cars with the loco, and that's pretty what it will handle. It will have LED lighting on both ends, sound, and a crew figure.

Craig is correct on both counts!
Mike Wolf mentioned that MTH had shrunk the PS-3 Boards down to 'S Gauge' and that would make smaller 'O Gauge' Engines possible now..
WBB has announced 2 things I have been waiting for, a real 44 ton switcher and streets turnouts. Both items will be budgeted for purchase.

That "rumor" has been said several times on this forum for years now. NOw that WBB has a Prototype out and will goto the market this year, I will buy at least one! MTH now better put it's $$ where it's mouth is . In the meantime. WBB better step up production and get as many models in a variety of paint schemes out there before MTH comes out with one.
Just because it's in the "next" catalog, that doesn't mean it's actually going to be available anytime soon.

Ditto for me! I'm looking forward--patiently, of course--to the release of both products.
Allan, it's that patiently thing that I'm having difficulty mastering!
I'll get command into it, wait and see. Maybe sound as well.
If you do John, let me know as I definitely want the Command and sound into it as I would want to use it in the yard and need Remote Operating Couplers too!
Couplers should be OK if they use the standard coupler design, hopefully they won't do something oddball for the couplers.
Count me in. Long overdue. Now if I could get a Whitcomb as used by the Army Transportation Corps in WW2 Europe..that would make for a wonderful set of choices.
