Grew up here in Springfield, Mo and watched these giant Black and Yellow Frisco diesels come and go here in our town.

If you right click on a picture and then click "open link in new window", you will get a full scene shot that will give a lot of detail...  Hope you enjoy and I appreciate you taking the time to look.

Nice work everyone.   Here are a few fun photos before the layout comes down this weekend.  My son loves the L&N weaver engine, he calls it the Liam &Nick RR, our first names.  If you notice the Fire station when I built it I added my wedding anniversary to the date at the top of the building.  Hint Hint.   Nick

These are way cooler than the newer Legacy ones.

No white background on the Chief's headress and working Mars lights!!

Nice find!

Mr. Schorr,

I have lived in DK many years ago, across from the dairy. It used to be the my grandfathers and Stuart Duncans, who was the banker at one time. I like what your are doing with the middle division. I get homesick every time I see your work. I only have room for a shelf (16ft) and would like to do the siding up to the sled factory, even though I walked and played on it many times I can't remember the track layout around the fright station. Played on a few fright cars at the factory. Could the hotel or station be next? Is your bank scratch or bashed? Again great work.

When my boys were little I grew pumpkins in the backyard and let them sell all of the harvest for pocket money.  The Boo Bros. name comes from that period in my life.  I haven’t posted on this thread in awhile, but do keep an eye on it because of the superb model craftsmanship displayed and the photographic skills of the different forum members.  Thanks everyone for sharing.

 Lee,

Thanks for your comments. The bank is a stock MTH bank, the design of which was "borrowed" from an HO Walthers bank.  I got rid of the gray color, and repainted it in a correct sandstone color, and used engraved lettering (not completed on the "1924" when the pic was taken) and weathered and lightly detailed the bank.

The station is already finished but not yet weathered, and I can post pics of that next week.  I assume by "hotel" you mean the turreted structure next to the bank.  That too will be represented by a stock DPM Davenport Department store building which is similar in appearance.

I'be always thought this car was funny. I have one myself  and I first thought it was a factory mistake. It is a Chessie car with MEC markings. I never knew Maine Central was ever part of the Chessie System. MPC came out with two MEC cars at around the same time so I figure it was just an accidental carry over from one of those.

My wife grew up in a house in SW PA right along the Monongahela River, and I've been visiting there regularly since 1980.  I love going there especially because her house sits 40 yards or so from the RR tracks.  You can see from this picture, taken from the side of her yard, how close they are.

Trains rumble through there a few times a day, at all hours....always coal.  Last month we were visiting when I heard one approaching, so I ran outside and had my daughter take my picture trackside.  I had my back to the train, as you can see, and so I did not notice the very interesting third engine (I almost said "dummy.") in the lineup.

It wasn't until the train had passed me and I turned to walk back to the house that I saw the BSNF diesel.  This was HUGE for me...only the third time I've ever see one in action...twice on this line and once a few years ago here in Wyckoff along a NYS&W line.  May not seem like  much but when you rarely see one, it's an exciting moment.  And to think I almost missed it!

Mike,  Come to the Midwest some time and I can take you pumpkin hunting.  Its the opposite here.  My son and I are always hunting for the Black Stallions, when we see one we have ben know to chase them  up to 40 miles for good photos.  Nick
