I received a handsome MTH UP Alco set last week and ran this Wednesday. Very nice performer with great sound and SMOKE.  Got a deal on a second AB set and am offering the new B unit w/PS3, sound, smoke and all wheels powered for just $125 mailed to you. This is very inexpensive for a PS3 powered engine!

Picked up a nice 7 car set of UP smooth sided cars off the bay the other day for $84 to run with the MTH UP PA's. Color is a little richer than the locomotives but should still look good together.  These have an unusual type of coupler that I'm not familiar with but I plan to put at least one kadee and eventually replace all. Liked that it had a duplicate vista dome car.

Spent a bit of time this weekend tossing this kit together.  Slightly more involved that a "shake the box" kit, with a little more separate details, and it makes a nice car with an appropriate amount of details.  Kit was made by Ribbed Side Car Co. , and is apparently out of business.  I'd like to find another of these, and more of the 40' single door with the "Route of the Hiawathas" logo.

Those type of couplers look to be from trains made in Italy, Germany or France (Fleischmann, Jouef or Rivarossi).

You probably found some cars that weren't imported by AHM (which these look to be), but ones purchased direct from Europe.  My family's old hobby shop had some Rivarossi locos and cars that AHM boxed but didn't convert the couplers!  They had these on them and we received couplers from AHM to covert them in the store.
