"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

I had done some custom paints, (HO),  for a nephew, a few years ago.  O-scale is my layout and custom paint models.

Models were from E-bay, I never did like the long white handrail, plastic and hard to keep straight, high on the hood. The metal handrails on the Atlas (O-scale) models were more friendly.

Best wishes, Mike CT.

My 16' x 20' Hobby Shack is almost ready for occupancy!  Hoo-RAY!

This little building was put in the dry in May of 2015 (yup, you read right... over ONE year ago)... and just recently did I FINALLY find a contractor willing to take a small job (finishing the interior and skirting the exterior). They finished Friday of this week... and come Monday AM the electrician will return to hang the 4' LED fixtures. At that point it will be 100% finished and ready for me to start the long process of moving in!  Into this will go the Colorado & Pacific, as well as a hobby work bench and lots of under-layout storage units!

Here's a pic of the exterior. (Note: It looks much smaller in the pic than it truly is.)

And here's a picture of the interior (note: That's an 8' ceiling):

After all this time, I'm just THIS close to having a room 100% ready for me to clutter up with toys!!

Yippeeeee!

Lets put lipstick on the pig, and take her dancing.

I held my 2nd operating session on Friday evening on the Spokane Southern (version 2.0 ).

These shots were at the end of the session.  The session clock started at 1:58PM, and ran until 10:55, which was just shy of 3 actual hours, since I run a 3 to 1 fast clock.

I've been posting shots of my trains staged in sceniced areas over the last few months, now lets see what the pig really looks like with just enough lipstick to merit a session.

Last night, #2, the Denver Empire Builder, got stabbed by Extra NP 556 West, which is the designation for the out portion of the Noname (No-Nam-E) turn.

It left Worley well late of its usual 3:45PM departure time (this train isn't on the schedule, but the crew is called at 2:45PM, one hour before anticipated departure time.  Since my model railroad can get just as screwed up as the real thing, nothing usually happens per schedule.

The photo below is of Extra 556 West arriving in the siding at Noname.  On the left of the train is #2, which is starting to depart for Worley, ID, and points east.

Notice that the town of Noname is a "Foamboard Central", and not a building in site except for the box devoid of Bluepoint switch machines, which are installed on the layout.  The box is doing temporary duty as the lumber loading shed.  There is a temporary station west of this train out of view.

Below is the train order that gave rights for Extra 556 West over #2.  Not only did #2 get stabbed at Noname, but Extra 6014 east had running rights ahead of him from Noname to Worley.  Sorry for the turned image, I can't for the life of me get this forum software to print them in the right orientation.

Running Timetable and Train Order sessions require for the crews to know where the station is located at, OS (report) to the dispatcher when the pass thru the station, which explains the radio, be notified of a clear train order board, or red that a Form 19 awaits (we don't model Form 31s, at least on my RR), and we have flagmen spread around the layout to represent head end and / or rear brakemen as required to protect the train.

Notice the "Foamboard Central" look, temporary station, and you can't tell in the photo, but the siding track is laid in loose just so we could run the session ( the switches that go to sidings yet to be placed are spiked in).  No, we are not waiting for everything to be picture perfect from keeping us from "Model Railroading".

Now, what happened to Extra 6014 East?   Well he dropped off seven cars at Worley, and picked up 10 cars, and he is on his way towards St. Regis, where he will rejoin Northern Pacific rails.  The yardmaster did a fine job making sure all eastbound cars were moved out of the yard.

Extra 6014 departed, and is passing through St. Maries on its way to St. Regis, where it will rejoin NP rails.  This part of the railroad is a "Plywood Central".  It has been this way since 1990, and I don't see it changing in the intermediate future.  Forgot to clean up the piece of wire I used while making a repair earlier in the day before the session.  Oh well.

After Extra 6014 departed, NP G1 class 0-8-0 switcher sits at the east end of Worley yard, while the crew takes a short break in the cab before starting their next move.

Lack of a finished railroad is not keeping any of the Friday evening crew from enjoying each others layouts regardless of finished scenery.

Regards,

Jerry
