NYC Kid,
Very well done!
What kind of track is that?
Bob
Farmerjohn, great scenic detailing as always, (the colorful trailers park is awesome) your layout is a fantastic work in progress. Although the coronavirus has curtailed our visits, we look forward to seeing your progress when the present pandemic comes to an end. Until then, keep the pictures coming. Great ideas, great layout, Happy Railroading
Hi Don,
Appears from your photo that you have possibly used the scenic express pennsy flex wall.
I just purchased some pennsy to try out. Question, (1) have you painted the wall, and (2) what type of glue do you use to attach the wall to you structures?
thanks
Seth

RMT - Ready Made Train Tracks.
Seth. I use a dark gray spray primer on the walls. Sometimes I brush the walls with a white on a brush, BUT an extremely light stroke.
I glue wall with heavy duty liquid nails or I may use a light short nail. Nail gun or stapler that shoots brads.

Looks great y'all! Today I worked on another following video on the Lionel Vision Line aux water tender.

Besides that, I've also been working on gradients while having some fun.

The arch bridge is custom built by a great friend who loves to build models. The bridge is made out of wood. Scratch built to fit in my layout. He also srathbuilt another bridge which is 14 ft long and has a 1 percent grade and a curve on it. He built it from a picture he found. Its built so it doesn't block view of my roundhouse
These are some great bridges and the work around them is stunning. How do you do your rock work?
Dave
The rock work on my layout is made from molds of which some I made and some purchased. I use plaster of Paris to pour the castings let them dry real good then use hot glue to fix to the surface. I use a plaster with perlite in it to fuse in the gaps. The real nice thing about this is you only need cheep water color paint to stain thud rock faces. The real nice thing is you can change the color at anytime with a spray bottle and some more color. I don't use any paint on the rocks until in finally satisfied with the results and then its only on the joints because once you use paint water colors won't go in to the plaster
John Rowlen,
I truly enjoyed your video of the diesels and the outstanding number of passengers enjoying their trip!
All of your work is much enjoyment to you, and thanks for sharing a short version of the long trip so that I could enjoy it tonight.
Seth
Thank you Don DMasso for the brushstrokes recommendation.
I will do some practice on the wall supply I ordered from Scenic Express. . . .
Seth
Ran trains for the 1st time in a very long time. Makes me want to start working on the layout. Hopefully with this COVID goes away, my wife, a front line nurse, and myself an essential worker, I will have a lot more free time.

Randy,
I'm almost certain I bought these from Chooch 10 or so years ago. This one never got finished as I didn't have room for it on the layout at our last home. I don't think they're making them any more.
Stay Safe,
Scott
Paul 2, Great work! Looks like your almost done with that area, and everything is looking wonderful! I know you have something else to do when that's done. Can you give a preview of where your going next?
John, your bridge's are AMAZING! Nice to have friends that like to build models!
John R. Nice video! It was nice to get a view of your layout! The train and cars look outstanding! What wonderful detail!

The interior is a cream color so I will add a little more Testors Flat Red Earth to the seat color. The Dome seats will also need to be lowered to accommodate the Preiser 65602 Seated People I painted.
I will start later tonight after taking Mom for a car ride down the Cleveland Metro Parks Big Creek Parkway on the way to the grocery store. I am trying to keep both of our minds alert after days of mind-numbing television.
Have fun "working on your railroad", all the live-long day.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
Happy early birthday to you! Also, it's nice to see that you are keeping busy.
Heres my latest finished project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...amp;feature=youtu.be
Stay safe everyone!
Painting an Ameri-Towne flat structure. This is soon to be a downtown NAPA Auto Parts Store in an old building painted blue.

Agreed
Nice Ray. I had no indication of size in your OP. Well done regardless.

Morning was out for any layout time. Had to get the grass cut before the rains came. After lunch I had the afternoon to basically finish what I was working on. Before I headed down Mr Postman dropped off my package from Scenic Express. Not bad service I ordered it just the day before yesterday. I had run out of Woodland Scenics earth color but rather then just order that I added a jug of plaster and some more trees. So by the end of the afternoon I got the last of the track down around the bakery/silo area. Now I have two sidings to hold cars until they have to be unloaded. Tomorrow I start adding some ground foam around the areas now. Talked about luck I had just enough Gar Graves tracks left to do the two sidings. Looks like I have to start a new list of supplies. Well, I tried with NO success to install Tortoise switch machines to my 2rail Old Pullman #6 switches. Cant get the switch points to stay tight against the rail on one side or the other. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Maybe heavier wire? I dont know. Seems like where the rail is cut almost all the way through where it swings is just to rigid.
John
John, I do 2 things when I install my Tortoise machines.
1. I purchased some .032 piano wire, I am pretty sure the stock wire is .025
2. I cut some 3/8" plywood to make a mounting plate for the switch machine. It helps in two ways, first I can install the small #4 screws holding the machine to the plate on a bench, the larger slots I cut in the plywood enable me to dial in the exact location that makes the machine work well in both directions with equal tension on both sides of the points. I cut a slot that is around 3/8 inches wide, and use a #8 screw with a washer. A side benefit is that by moving the machine 3/8 inch down from the bottom of the table increases the horizontal travel of the guy wire. It's much easier installing the #8 screws & washers than dealing with the #4's....
Yes, now that I went under there to take the photos, I never installed the 2nd mounting screw/washer !!!
I took 2 photos for you, as they are worth 1,000 words.

Thanks Chris. I will try that tomorrow and see what happens. I'm trying not to cut the rail all the way through and having to use joiners where they swing.
If the points swing fully without a motor attached they don't need modding; the throw does... the rest is near an echo ... you need to change the throw ratio by shimming the mount more and using a longer arm (or moving the pivot hole closer to the motor actuator.)
That much I recall from 40years ago
