Hello OGR Forum,

Several Questions - have not been able to get firm Lionel provided direction …

1. In my new layout I have will have Legacy Control and 22 brand new Fastrack O72 L and R and Wye Remote and Control Switches.

- Will I need “ASC2” controllers to control my switches from my Cab II or Cab 1L handhelds, or is the control built into the switch and the Legacy System without an LCS module?

2. Do I understand correctly that I can wire blocks (e.g. sidings) to be powered on/off either using “ASC2” modules in accessory mode, or “BPC2” modules?

- what is the Pros and Cons of both choices if they are both valid?

3. I understand I can use the TMCC module called “OTC” to operate simple uncouple Fastrack tracks, but I can alternatively use LCS “ASC2” modules in accessory on/off mode - correct?

- my bigger question is whether the “OTC” module is the ONLY way to control Fastrack operating and uncoupling tracks? Some earlier OGR forum entries suggested alternate paths but never seemed to get to a final resolution. IS THERE ONE?

I hope sone of you have crossed these issues and have clear answers and guidance of do’s and don’ts. Thanks in advance for offering your views!

Hello GRJ and Tracker John,

Thank you both for your respective replies on my questions:

(1) re: ASC2 not being needed if I have new Fastrack switches Remote/Command: Thanks for confirming. I do also plan to add STM2 when I go further with LCS application and WiFi.

(3) re: ASC2 and Fastrack Operating/Uncouple Tracks: I saw the 2019 post on Operating / Uncoupling track connected to ASC2. I realize I am still learning a lot about electrical connections, relays, etc. but from the last entry in the post by "Sparty1225" with pic (see copy below) I could not tell if this solution fully works - his comment infers that with jumper the loco shorts, and without the jumper the ASC2 will not activate - sounds like an incomplete solution.

What am I missing? Does this work, or not, or is there a piece still missing?

Finally - any credence from either of you or others may be reading this on my Question (2): Do I understand correctly that I can wire blocks (e.g. sidings) to be powered on/off either using “ASC2” modules in accessory mode, or using “BPC2” modules? What are the Pros and Cons of both choices if they are both valid?

COPIED BELOW - "Sparty1225" last entry ...

Hi mike thank you for responding. I have it wired like this which looks the same. When I remove the jumper wire the locomotive doesn’t short.  However when in place it shorts.  Without the jumper the asc2 won’t activate.
