DZ2500s can be finnicky, but I have never had an issue like this. I am building my second layout and am installing 2500s that worked on my old layout. I am using Legacy to control them. I have dozens of LCS devices daisy chained, the WiFi module is first in line and the SER2 is second with the DZ data driver plugged into it. I have a ground bus that serves switch motors and track. I have a power bus dedicated to the motors and a data bus dedicated to the blue data wire from the switch motors. All motors go directly to the bus, ie I do not daisy chain switch motors.

When I power up the layout some, but not all of the green lights blink on the switch machines. For example if the switch were in the out position the red light is solid and the green light blinks. Some of the machines respond to commands, but not all and whether or not the green light is blinking does not dictate if the machine responds. I mean some of the switch machines with blinking green lights do respond to commands and some do not. Some but not all of the motors will go into program mode. But NONE will allow themselves to be reprogrammed. I just replaced the data driver because the led was solid red. Unfortunately replacing the data driver had no effect on the problems I described.

I have done a ton of work and everything worked..until now. Has anyone experienced something like this? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Kevin,

I'm probably not going to have an answer for you, but there are some variables to eliminate.  My questions:

  • Are these DZ-2500c's?  No lurking DZ-2500a's?
  • How long is your DZ-2001 Data Wire driver?
  • How many DZ-2500s are on your DZ-2001 Data Wire driver?

My guess is that you've exceeded the length or number of switch machines on the driver.  If you have a second, you might try connecting some of them to that and see if the problem goes away.

Please let us know what you learn.

Best of luck.

Oh, and you can and should contact Dennis Zander.  He does stand behind his products.
