@WesternPacific2217 posted:It's been awhile since I ran some trains and had time to do a video. This is what I ran today - Southern Pacific GS-2 #4412 Commute pulling double deck Gallery cars and Western Pacific GS-64 pulling mixed freight. SP started to receive the Gallery cars just before they began retiring steam from the SF to San Jose commute trains, replacing them with diesel power. I have found a couple photos of SP GS-2 lashed up to double deck gallery cars. The photos are copy write so I can't post them here.
Have a great weekend!
You made the weekend even better Thanks

It’s loaded- Every bell, whistle and rail sound is better than the next. they nailed the magic and nostalgia of Halloween pre 2000. Truly a prized possession of mine now.
My 2 year old son decided last fall that Halloween wasn’t allowed to be just a fun few weeks in October every year, it’s the reoccurring theme of all his favorite things, so I went with this theme and ran with it.
You have a double whammy there, Not only do we "play" with Trains, but My favorite Holiday IS Halloween, in something's we just CAN'T grow up

So glad you enjoyed the video Guttersnipe, it was fun putting it together and running some trains!
Hey Guttersnipe,
I love the layout, especially the trees. How did you make them? They're perfect for the theme of your layout. I'm with your son, and I'm ALOT older than he is. Halloween is the best. Everything about your layout is just fun. Congrats! I hope you both have lots of fun with trains for many years to come. Thanks for the post. It made my day.

Agreed! I unfortunately don’t have the background of watching cool historical locos in my region growing up, just dirty Santa Fe/BNSF diesels in the middle of the desert and rough parts of town- So it’s all fantasy to me anyways! 😂
Here's a run from last night.

Hey Tom!
Post replies can get a little confusing, but the layout in question is in my garage and I didn’t want to just ignore the kind words, they made my day! 😁
I’ll be honest, I’m no modeler- between the 2 year old and work, this is all quite literally plug and play 😁 I sourced the trees from various Etsy/amazon stores. I can only take credit for gluing the bases on and spending way too much time articulating limbs- they all come rolled straight up 😅
My grandpa was a big Lionel guy- more of a collector, did not run them much and was always weary of the small grandkids around “the good stuff”! But if I caught him alone without any other cousins around, in the right mood, he’d pull something fancy out he had just picked up- and those are some of the best memories of my childhood! I can only hope to keep that magic going!
Thanks again!

Will do!
Ran some steamers last night. LIRR Legacy 0-4-0 and Reading LC+2.0 0-6-0t on the main and a NYC PS2 0-6-0 on the upper level.
No smoke allowed in the house or I fear the layout would have disappeared by the end of the video.

A overhead view night run from yesterday. Lionel UP GP9 and Lionel RI SW8. It was 1 video I had to split in 3 to fit.

Looks good Gene. I like running with the lights down low too.

Thanks Bob, I had just the workbench light on. I also did one after without the bench light, it came out okay. It’s better with a little light to at least see the trains running.

On the original loop from 1983 (the only one still with O27 curves) My LIRR freight (Engine and rolling stock custom painted by me) races to deliver its cargo
A New Haven RS-3 running cab forward heads a peddler freight through New Haven bound for Meriden and New burg on the New Haven section of the layout. The RS-3 is an MTH unit.

Bill that's a great looking run there! I really like your desert wall.
