Yes this is train related because Christmas and trains go hand and hand!

So, what is your all time favorite Christmas song. Something you remember from when you were a kid?..... or something that just sings to your heart...

For me it is without a doubt the song "Old City Bar" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This song pulls a tear everytime I listen to it if I really listen to the words. They found a new, modern way to get an age old meaning of Christmas across in their music.

If you have never heard this song I strongly encourage you to download it and take a listen. It's worth the $1 price tag!

What about everyone else? What song makes you stop and really feel the Christmas spirit?

Man, this is like asking "What's your favorite engine".

I'd have to say my favorite is "Silver Bells" by Fred Waring & The Pennsylvanians, followed very closely by Sinatra's Jingle Bells" (J-i-n-g-l-e Bells version). It was always the first song of the first album my Dad would start the season with.

But "The Little Drummer Boy" by Harry Simeone Chorale always reminds me of my Grandmother. It was her favorite Christmas song.
Traditional: I like them all but 1st place goes to Adeste Fidelis. My father used to sing that (in Latin) when I was little. It is the only carol I remember him actually singing. Silent night comes in a close second. The German version a close 3rd.

Modern: "Christmas in the Country" by Mike Ridley is #1 and Mavis Staples "Christmas Vacation" comes in a close 2nd.

Hava Nagila. As a kid, I went to a private school that was mostly Jewish, so we celebrated Christmas and Hanukah together. For the annual holiday show for the parents, we would all sing "Silent Night" and then get up and sing "Hava Nagila" and dance the Horah. It was great fun, and we all learned to respect each other's religion.

My favorite "real" Christmas song is the Hallelujah Chorus.
